Wife, brother-in-law get life-term in murder of man

JAMMU: Second Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Pawan Dev Kotwal on Thursday awarded life-imprisonment to Gulshan Begum and her brother for murdering Bashir Ahmed, husband of the Gulshan Begum.
According to prosecution case, on August 4, 2010, Police Station Satwari received information from reliable source that dead body of one army personal, L.Nk. Bashir Ahmed, son of Abdul Sattar Khan resident of Chokibal, Kupwara, at present Beli Charana, Jammu, is lying in his house at Beli Charana, and on this report, inquest proceedings under Section 174 Cr.P.C commenced. During the investigation it was revealed that Gulshan Begum, wife of the deceased, was having illicit relations with Rajinder Kumar alias Sonu, son of Mohan Lal, resident of Muthi Jourian, Tehsil Akhnoor, for last five/six years. Somehow, the deceased came to know about the relationship, due to which they used to quarrel for 2/3 days and in those days, the brother-in-law of the deceased, Ghulam Hassan had also been coming to their house and because of the aforesaid reason, Gulshan Begum hatched a conspiracy with her brother Ghulam Hassan and Rajinder Kumar alias Sonu to kill the deceased and consequently poisoned him and later both sister and brother strangulated him to death.
Court after hearing both the sides observed that the accused persons are sentenced under Section 302 RPC to rigorous imprisonment for life and also fine to the tune of Rs. 5,000 each. In case of default of payment of fine, they shall further undergo rigorous imprisonment for six months. The sentence shall, however, be subject to confirmation by the High Court.
