Western Army Commander reviews parade

NEW DELHI: On the occasion of 67th Army Day, an impressive Parade cum Investiture ceremony was organised here at the Army Parade Ground, New Delhi.
Lt Gen K.J Singh, GOC-in-C Western Command reviewed the Parade which included eight mechanised contingents and nine marching contingents.
The occasion is organised every year by HQ Delhi Area just prior to the Army Day which will be celebrated on 15th January at the same venue. Also, as part of Army’s effort to promote ‘Nari Shakti’ a women officer’s contingent also took part in the Parade for the first time in the history of the Indian Army.
GOC-in-C conferred Yudh Seva Medals, Bar to Sena Medals, Sena Medals, Bar to Vishisht Seva Medals and Vishisht Seva Medals to the award winners and next of kin of the martyrs for their gallant and distinguished services.
Lt Gen Singh exhorted all ranks to live by the highest tradition of Indian Army and do their best for the defence of the country.
In his Keynote address, the General Officer exhorted officers and men to be alert and alive to the ongoing security situation in the country and be prepared to defeat nefarious designs of our adversaries.
