Weightlifting body establishes Training facility in Samba

SAMBA: After district Reasi, the Jammu and Kashmir Weightlifting Association has started an exclusive training centre in district Samba by making the equipment available on the campus of Smart Shishu Nikatan Higher Secondary School, here.
“An effort has been made by the Indian Weightlifting Association to take the game to the district level by sponsoring the equipment for J&K also. The aim is to cultivate a culture of fitness and athleticism among the youth with focus on Olympic event of weightlifting,” said General Secretary of the Association, Yudhvir Singh.
The equipment included barbel sets (190kg), prototype for beginners, squat stands, jerk stands and benches (all products with mark of Nelco Company).
The inauguration ceremony, overseen by Jangveer Singh, Principal of Smart Shishu Nikatan Higher Secondary School, Samba and secretary J&K Weightlifting Association, Samba district in the presence of Ashok Singh (retired Divisional Sports Officer of J&K Sports Council), Harbhajan Singh (president J&K Weightlifting Association), Yudhvir Singh, Captain Kulbir Singh (president, Samba District Weightlifting Association) and Abhishek (Weightlifting coach).
Meanwhile, the youth of Samba expressed gratitude to the Indian Weightlifting Federation, J&K Weightlifting Association and District Samba Weightlifting Association pledging to uphold the sports integrity and strive for excellence.s
