KATHUA: District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Kathua Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary launched an informative website for conduct of Assembly elections and for general awareness among electorate and political parties.
The Website http://kathua.nic.in/Elections2014.html contains daily orders issued by the election authorities as well as instructions issued by Election Commission of India and Chief Electoral Officer, J and K for various election related aspects.
The website will serve multiple purpose for election officials, political parties, contesting candidates, general electorate, print and electronic media as well as election observers. It displays all election related laws, training material for ROs, AROs, Nodal Officers, BLOs, BLAs, Sector / Zonal Magistrates, Police Officers, Counting Agents, Polling / Presiding Officers, Micro-observers; important judgments of Courts on election related matters and interpretation of laws.
All the communications of district election officials and appointment orders are also hosted on website; in the column ‘Notice-Board’ the important notices issued by DEO and orders issued for publication are hosted. On SVEEP tab the various activities lined up for electoral awareness are shown and under ‘Upcoming Events’ the details of training sessions, awareness programmes and meetings are presented.
For benefit of political parties the ECI instructions on Model Code of Conduct, expenditure and other aspects are also uploaded and with the date of nomination all the required facilities will be updated on website. Political parties have also an option to file online request for seeking permission under single window system for permission of rallies which will be granted on first come first served basis. Facility has also been provided for voters to look their name in the voter list and contact their BLOs for enrolment. Grievances can also be projected to the DEO online through the website.
The paper communication has also been dispensed with and all the district / sectoral officers have been directed to browse the website regularly to find the latest directions, appointment orders and duties allotted.
