SRINAGAR: Baramulla Police on Friday registered a case against a wanted drug peddler, Shoaib Aijaz Guru, under the stringent PIT NDPS Act.
“Acting sternly against drug peddlers and aiming to eliminate the drug menace from society, the police have booked one of the most wanted and notorious drug smugglers under the PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla. He has been lodged in Central Jail Kot-Bhalwal Jammu,” an official press release said.
“The most wanted and notorious drug smuggler, Shoaib Aijaz Guru alias Shoaib, son of Aijaz Ahmad Guru, a resident of Milat Colony Kanis Pora Baramulla, has been booked under the PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority,” the statement reads, adding, “The detained drug smuggler has been lodged in Central Jail Kot-Bhalwal Jammu.”
It is worth mentioning that numerous cases are registered against these drug smugglers, who were involved in promoting the drug trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Town Baramulla and other areas of the district. Despite his involvement in many FIRs, he did not cease his activities and continued to promote the drug trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
“The general public of Baramulla has commended the police for their action against drug peddlers. The consistent efforts of Baramulla Police against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that the police are making every effort to keep our society free from drug abuse,” further reads the statement.
