Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in this Jammu and Kashmir winter capital Saturday morning to campaign for the BJP in the Kishtwar assembly constituency.
After landing at Jammu airport, Modi took off in a helicopter for Kishtwar town, where around 30,000 people have turned out to attend a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) election rally.
Kishtwar goes to polls Nov 25 in the first phase of the five-phased assembly polls in the state.
In its pro-active thrust to win the maximum number of seats in the Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP depends largely on the image of Modi, who is very popular among the people in the Hindu majority Jammu region
While addressing a massive rally in the valley, PM asserted that BJP government is closely looking into the Kashmir issue and gave assurance that the issues of the refugees will be solved. Jarring a sly attack on the opposition, he said various parties are making false promises to come into power. “I want to tell those spreading lies- do not mislead people”, he said.
- Modi ends public rally ends amidst chants of Bharat Mata ki jai.
- I want the ‘Digital India’, ‘Skill India’ campaign to start from Kashmir.
- I invite you to elect a majority BJP govt here.
- Send a strong message from Kishtwar to the state that the future of the state will not be dependent of anyone.
- If those affected by floods want to rebuild there lives, then don’t let the money go into the wrong hands.
- It is my responsibility to solve the problem of refugees here and request people here to not spread lies on the issue.
- The dream that Vajpayee had for Jammu and Kashmir, I will fulfil it.
- Elect a BJP government here.
- People want development, better future. For this, I have decided that development is our mantra.
- For the first time after independence, this is the changing direction of wind.
- Our mantra is sabka saath, sabka vikaas.
- Kashmiri is a Kashmiri. They are our own and our aim is to change their destiny.
- That is why I am here to request you to not associate politics with communalism.
- Now is the time to decide the future of the next generation.
- We need to get rid of corruption here.
- When I declared Rs 1,000 crore for relief work after floods here, the government here was surprised. There has never been shortage of funds. If there is a hole in the bucket then the water will not stay. I wonder where the funds allocated by the Centre are.
- J&K has Chenab next to it. Can’t they supply water here?
- Gujarat has less rainfall and scarcity of drinking water. We built a pipeline and Narmada’s water is now supplied to 9,000 houses. The size of the pipe is big enough to fit the family of CM Omar Abdullah while sitting in a car.
- Sole Jammu and Kashmir has the strength to supply electricity to the whole country. No one has the time to study the proposal kept here.
- There was a time when our film industry used to shoot Kashmir in every film. I want to bring them back and give employment to youths here.
- You have been regretting for the last 50 years. Decide once and you will not regret again.
- There is a deal between the two families here. For the first five years, I will rule, for the next you may govern the state. Both have a five year contract to loot the state.
- Will only two families rule Kashmir? Can you not run Kashmir? Modi asks.
- If Kutch can be developed, then so can Kashmir.
- In five km area, it has the world’s largest production of steel pipes, has drinking water supply.
- Kutch district, which has dominant Muslim population, was underdeveloped and considered as a punishment posting. I want to say now that it is the fastest growing district.
- I would like to narrate my experience. When I was appointed as the Gujarat CM, some people came to me and said that people who come here speak on the same issue related to Pakistan. They said that they want to talk about development.
- People wonder why Modi is so attached to Kashmir. It is my wish to complete the work started by Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the state.
