Voluntary blood donation camp held in Jammu

JAMMU:  of Blood Transfusion Medicine, Government Medical College, Jammu, in collaboration with J and K State AIDS Prevention and Control Society, Jammu and Regional Red Cross Society, Jammu, organised a voluntary blood donation camp in association with Reliance Communications here at Channi Narwal on Saturday.
Honourary Secretary, IRCS, Region Jammu, R.C Puri delivered a motivational lecture on the importance of voluntary blood donation and stressed upon the gathering to donate blood voluntarily to save precious lives.
The Circle Head, Reliance Communication, Jammu appreciated the efforts made by Virinder Singh Salathia of Reliance Communication by organising the blood donation camp.
Donors from the Reliance Communications participated in the camp and donated blood voluntarily. They were screened by medical officer along with his team from GMC Jammu before donation. Blood mobile van was deputed for the camp and about 20 units of blood were collected in the camp.
The Department of Blood Transfusion Medicine plans to organise many more Voluntary Blood Donation Motivation lectures to educate the people especially youth to come forward to donate blood voluntarily as this is the safest source of providing blood to the ailing. WHO has set a target of 100 per cent voluntary blood donation by the year 2020.
