JAMMU: Against the apathetic attitude of the State Government and in favour of their long pending demands, Village Level Workers (VLWs)/Multi Purpose Workers (MPWs)of Rural Development Department of J and K under the banner of Village Level Workers/Multipurpose Workers Union, held a massive protest at Directorate of Rural Development Talab Tillo, here on Wednesday.
Protestors shouted slogans against the State Government and higher-ups of the rural development department
While leading the protest, the State President on all J and K Multipurpose Workers Union, Om Parkash, accused the State Government for having failed to address their long pending demands.
The protestors demanded creation of post for Inspector in newly created 177 blocks, enhancement of initial pay grade in respect of VLWs/MPWs, release of in-situ promotion in favour of MPWs etc.
“If government pays no heed to our demands, we will go on continuous hunger strike till our genuine demands are met,” protesters said adding that 28 members Co-ordination Committee of VLWs and MPWs has also been formulated to chalk out further course of action.
