Vijaypur Warriors, Kathua Club win ties in Hockey

JAMMU: Vijaypur Warriors and Kathua Club won their respective matches to move into the next round of the ongoing Second Baba Fateh Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament, organised by Hockey J and K at KK Hakku Stadium, here on Thursday.
In the first match of the day, Vijaypur Warriors defeated MRS Club Simbal 2-1 though latter took the first lead and well maintained it in the first half of the play. However, the Simbal boys could not do well after the drinks break for the sole reason that they were lacking in stamina.
Nikhil Randhawa and Manjeet Singh were the scorers from winning side, who sounded the board in the 40th and 59th minute respectively. From MRS Club, the lone goal came through Gursimran Singh in the 17th minute.
In other scheduled match of the day, Kathua Club Lachipora blanked Bagh-I-Bein Club Gole Gujral 4-0 to pave way for the next round. Harjot Singh (2nd and 7th), Rajesh (10th) and Harpreet Singh (50th) were the scorers.
In today’s matches, Deputy Director, Sports Authority of India (SAI), J and K, Ajit Singh was Special Guest, who interacted with the teams. He was accompanied by Rajinder Singh, G.S Bakshi, M.S Reen and Gurmeet Kour. Karanjit Singh, J.S Reen, Joginder Singh and Satvir Singh officiated the matches.
FIXTURE: Zorawar Club shall take on KSS Club at 12:00 Noon while Young Star Simbal Camp shall be playing against Hiranagar Club at 2:30 PM tomorrow.
