SRINAGAR: Vigilance Organisation, Kashmir (VOK) on Tuesday registered a case against the officials of R&B department for their alleged involvement in purchasing goods at exorbitant rates, thereby, causing a loss of Rs. 2,70,163 to the State exchequer.
The Vigilance booked officials of R&B Division, Kupwara viz. the then Executive Engineer R&B Division Kupwara (Retd.) Mohammad Sultan Sheikh, the then Head Draftsman and presently posted at PMGSY Kupwara Abdul Gani Bhat, the then Draftsman presently Head Draftsman Mohammad Anwar Untoo and Draftsman Mohammad Maqbool Dar.
The Vigilance registered an FIR No. 04/2017 at Police Station VOK against the aforesaid officials for their alleged involvement in purchasing crate mesh 4” x 4” and 16”x16” made out of 2.5 mm B.A wire 160 rolls measuring 40,960 Sqfts at the exorbitant rates of Rs. 14 per kg amounting to Rs. 1,34,764.
During verification, it was also established that R&B Division, Kupwara had also purchased 112 number of sign boards from one Sadat Enterprises Industrial Estate Branwari, Kupwara at exorbitant rate of Rs. 1208.92 per sign board amounting to Rs. 1,35,399. By purchasing the crate mesh and sign boards on exorbitant rates, the aforesaid officers caused a loss of of Rs.2,70,163 to the State exchequer.
The omission and commissions on the part of the abovementioned public servants constitute offences punishable under Sections 5(1) (d) read with 5(2) J and K P.C. Act Svt. 2006 and Section 120-B, RPC.
