JAMMU: The Poonch-Rajouri-Kathua wing of Vigilance Organisation on Wednesday booked officers of the Power Development Department (PDD) for causing huge loss to state exchequer by purchasing electric items worth crores on highly exorbitant rates from open market without following any codal formalities. The Vigilance Organisation registered three cases against the erring officers under FIR Nos. 28, 29 and 30 of P/S VOJ under Section 5(1) (d) read with 5 (2) J&K P.C Act Samvat 2006 and Section I20-B RPC.
During the enquiry, it was found that the accused officers, by abuse of their official position and in connivance with each other/ proprietors of the supplier firms, had purchased electric items on very high rates through various supply orders to different firms without inviting NITs or Quotations, thereby, causing huge loss to the state exchequer.
The officers booked by the Vigilance Organisation include various senior officers of the department including Executive Engineer M&RE Rajouri (Retd) R. K Padha, Executive Engineer STD Division-IV Kalakote B. B Sein, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Rajouri R. L Koul, AEE Kalakote Maqbool Choudhary, store officer Rajouri Maroof Dar and Store Officer Kalakote T. S Jamwal including officers of M&RE Wing Poonch (Retd) U. C Manchanda, AEE Poonch Mumtaz Hussain and Store Officer Poonch Sham Lal, officers of M&RE Wing Kathua and STD Division-III Kathua namely (Retd) S. C Gupta, AEE (TO) M&RE/STD Division-III Kathua Amlok Singh and Store Officer M&RE/STD Division-III Kathua Daljit Singh, who were posted in their respective wings at that time
