SRINAGAR: Dr. Khurshid Andrabi, Vice–Chancellor, University of Kashmir, called on Governor, N.N Vohra, Chancellor of the University, here on Thursday.
Dr. Andrabi briefed the Governor about the to-date status of the ongoing academic and co-curricular activities of the university and highlighted certain issues relating to the staff strengthening and its positioning and, besides, several infrastructure related issues. Dr. Andrabi also informed the Governor about the progress achieved in the more significant ongoing research projects.
Prof. Sri Kumar Banerjee, noted nuclear scientist and Chancellor of Central University of Kashmir (CUK), met the Governor. He was accompanied by Prof. Mehraj-ud-Din, Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Kashmir.
Prof. Banerjee discussed with the Governor the infrastructural difficulties being faced in the development of CUK because of the high ground water level in the area in which the new University Campus is coming up in district Ganderbal. The two Chancellors also exchanged views and experiences about the larger issues and challenges which are being faced in the advancement of higher education in J&K. For ensuring rapid and balanced growth of the Central Universities, the two Chancellors agreed that all necessary steps should be taken to advance collaborations between the two Central Universities and the other State and private Universities to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
