VC SKUAST-K reviews developmental activities at ACHR

JAMMU: Prof. Nazeer Ahmed, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-K on Saturday reviewed on-going research and developmental activities at Advanced Centre for Horticulture Research (ACHR), Udheywalla here.
Dr. V.K Wali, Coordinator, ACHR briefed that this Centre has three main components of Bio Control Laboratory, Tissue Culture laboratory and Centre of Excellence in Horticulture (Fruits). He emphasized that a team alongwith an expert from The Netherland will be visiting this Centre to work out the plan for Centre of Excellence in Second week of December, 2016. Dr. Parshant Bakshi, Head, ACHR discussed that this centre acts as a centre for training for up gradation of scientific manpower in modern technologies for horticulture production and has to do work in collaboration with various national and international agencies. Dr. Kamlesh Bali briefed about the production of various biocontrol agents of horticultural importance produced under bio control laboratory.
Dr. Nazeer showed his interest and boosts the morale of all the young scientist of this centre and hope that this centre will cater the need of fruit growers of this region. It is pertinent to mention that the Advance Centre of Horticulture Research (Fruits), Udheywalla is the nodal research centre of SKUAST-Jammu to undertake basic and applied research for developing strategies to enhance productivity and utilisation of sub-tropical fruit crops of Jammu region.
