VC JU flags off varsity employees cricket team

JAMMU: Vice Chancellor, Prof R.D Sharma on Thursday flagged off the University of Jammu employees cricket team for participation in the All India Vice-Chancellor’s Twenty20 Cricket Cup being organised by Punjabi University, Patiala from December 2 to 17, 2017.
Wishing the team best of luck in the competition, Prof. Sharma hoped that team will put in their best in the tournament and bring laurels to the institution.
He said that the University does not lack in talent which has been demonstrated many times during various events.
He exuded confidence that the varsity team will make a mark in every discipline of the game and continue to inspire the budding cricketers by their performance.
The Team: Ameet Tagortra (Captain), Rajesh Verma (Vice-Captain), Vishal Sudan, Balwant Singh, Pawan Singh, Shammi Bhagat, Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Niranjan Singh, Sumit Sharma, Deepak Kumar, Gurpal Singh, Noor Ul Asrar, Sandeep Bakshi, Avtar Sharma, Raj Kumar Bakshi (Coach/Player), Surinder Singh (Supporting Staff) and Piyush Sharma (Kitman).
On the occasion, Sunil Sahi, former Manager and Chaman Lal, former player, Jammu University Employees team were also felicitated for their contributions.
Others present were Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Registrar, University of Jammu, Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education and Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Special Secretary to Vice Chancellor.
