JAMMU: The Vijeshwar Panchang (almanac) for 2015-16 was released at a function organised by Vijeshwar Jyotshi Karyalya here on Thursday.
It is the 331st edition of the Panchang, which was released by Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof. R.D Sharma in presence of a galaxy of intellectuals and members of Kashmiri Pandit community.
The welcome address was made by Pt Omkar Nath Shastri Editor in Chief of the Panchang. He highlighted role played by the Vijeshwar Panchang in preserving the Kashmiri Pandit culture and traditions and fastening the links of community to its roots.
He informed about the commitment of their souls to preserve the Kashmiri culture and identity. He also appealed to the entire community for giving them feedback and making the Panchang as a religious Granth.
Vice Chancellor also highlighted the significance of Panchang in the life of an individual.
Others who spoke included Swami Kumar Ji of Geeta Satsang Ashram, Relief Commissioner Migrants, R.K Pandita, President Kashmiri Pandit Sabha, K.K Khosa and Director Radio Sharda, Ramesh Hangloo.
The members of Vijayeshwar Panchang Karyalaya, Bhushan Lal Shastri, Avtar Krishan Shastri and Vimarsh Shastri were also present.
