VC felicitates alumni of School of Biotechnology

JAMMU: The School of Biotechnology, University of Jammu, organised the felicitation function of its two alumni namely Dr. Shri Ram Yadav, Assistant Professor, IIT Roorkee and Dr. Yash Pal Khajuria, DST, Young Scientist (passed out in 2002 batch of M.Sc. Biotechnology, University of Jammu).

Prof Manoj K Dhar, Director, School of Biotechnology welcomed Prof. R.D Sharma, Vice Chancellor and other dignitaries.

Prof. Sharma felicitated Dr. Shri Ram Yadav for his academic accomplishments including the prestigious Innovative Young Biotechnologist Award from DBT Govt. of India. Dr. Yadav is a Gold Medalist from University of Jammu and earned his Ph.D from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and got Post-doctoral training at University of Helsinki, Finland. He has published papers in topmost journals namely Science and Nature.

Prof. Sharma also felicitated Dr. Yash Pal Khajuria for getting the SERB, DST, Young Scientist Award. Dr.Khajuria completed his Ph.D in Plant Genomics and worked as post-doctoral scientist at National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi. He has also published papers in journals of international repute.

VC congratulated the Faculty members for producing such trained and skilled students who are doing cutting edge scientific work and bringing immense proud to the School and the University.

Dr. Shri Ram Yadav also delivered a talk on his work entitled “Phloem Sieve Elements Differentiation: Near Death Experience”.
