JAMMU: Vice Chancellor, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Prof. Mehraj Uddin Mir called on Governor N. N Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here on Friday.
Prof. Mir informed the Governor that following the period of unrest and
later, heavy snow falls in the Valley, the University has been able to restore the academic calendar to a very large extent and all class work and internal assessment of most of the programmes has been completed and examinations are scheduled to be conducted from February 20, 2017.
The VC further informed that admissions to all Under Graduate and Post Graduate programmes have been completed and the next Academic Session is expected to commence from March-2017.
He informed the University has started an integrated programme in Mathematics, M. Tech programme and B. Voc. in Tourism and Hospitality Management and the admission test for the INTEGRATED programme in Science and Law has been delinked from the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET-2017). The University plans to start B.Tech programme in Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Integrated B.Sc-MSc. Chemistry and BSc-MSc. in Botany, B. Pharma-M. Pharma; and Diploma in Translation under the Departments of Urdu and English, he added.
Complimenting the VC for the initiatives taken to meet the varied challenges in 2016, the Governor also discussed with Prof. Mir the to-date status of infrastructure development in the campus and re-iterated his concern, which he has been voicing to all VCs in the State, to ensure that their institutions remain apolitical and do not allow growth of any contentious issues and elements whatsoever.
