JAMMU: The much anticipated cultural and literary extravaganza, YUVTARANG, organized by the Department of Students Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu, commenced with great enthusiasm at PSPS Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
The festival was inaugurated by Professor K.S Chandrasekar, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University Jammu, who was joined by Principals of the constituent Colleges and various Deans, Associate Deans of the university along with faculty and students.
In his opening remarks, Prof. K. S. Chandrasekar emphasized the essential role of extracurricular activities in holistic student development, highlighting Yuvtarang as a platform that promotes creativity, collaboration, and cultural awareness, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. “YUVTARANG is crucial in nurturing students’ talents beyond academics, enriching their educational experience,” he remarked.
Prof. (Dr.) Monika Sharma, Dean Student Welfare, Cluster University Jammu, presented her formal welcome address and briefed the audience about the vision of YUVTARANG fest. She explained that this fest is an annual celebration of student’s talent across creative, literary, and performing arts.
She shared that this event brings students together from various Constituent colleges and schools of Cluster University in different events like photography, painting, theater, dance, and more, fostering teamwork, cultural appreciation, and personal growth under faculty guidance to ensure overall development of students.
Following the inauguration, the festival kicked off with spirited Mehandi and Clay Modelling competitions.
In the Mehandi competition held at PSPS GCW Gandhi Nagar, first place was awarded to Palki Verma of School of Humanities and Liberal Arts, with second and third positions going to Aarti Kumari of Government College of Education and Aarti Chandra of SPMR College of Commerce respectively.
The Clay Modeling competition, conducted at SPMR College of Commerce, where Arun from SPMR College of Commerce clinced first place, while Sahil Singh Manhas of MAM College and Sonakshi Sharma of SPMR College of Commerce secured second and third positions. The days competitions were judged by Dr. Amarjeet Singh, Malti Sharma and Palak Gandotra .
The inauguration was attended by Ankur Mahajan, Registrar, CLUJ; Dr. Naveen Anand (DAA), Dr. Ranvijay (controller) Dr. Zubair Kales, Dr. Satinder Kour, Prof. D.S. Manhas, Prof. Vishal Sharma (all Deans) and Prof. S. P. Sarsawat (Nodal Principal), Prof. B. B. Anand Principal MAM College, Prof. Romesh K. Gupta , Principal GGM Science College, Prof. Rajinder Singh, Principal SPMR Commerce College and Dr. Jyoti Parihar, Principal GCOE Jammu, Nagesh Jamwal Financial Advisor CLUJ, Associate and Assistant Deans, Cultural Conveners, the Student Cultural Council, faculty members, and students.
The event proceedings were hosted in a coherent way by Prof Sugandha Mahajan, and the vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Kuldeep Raina.
The entire festival is organized and managed under the supervision of Dr. Monika Sharma, with key contributions in the inaugural function from Prof. Babita Jamwal Campus Cultural Chair person, Prof. Tarseem Lal, Prof. Amit Pal Kour, Dr. Ashaq Hussain, Dr. Shubhra Jamwal, Dr. Neetu Kumari, Dr. Deepshikha Sharma, Prof. Sunita Kumari, Prof. Mohd Ashraf, Dr. Harpreet Bhatia, Prof. Paramjeet Singh and Dr. Romi Rani.
