Vansh Mahajan; budding fencing star of J-K

JAMMU: Dreaming to represent country in Common Wealth Games and also Asian Championships, young upcoming budding fencer of the J and K State Vansh Mahajan has won seven medals in different competitions including nationals.
Born on 12th December, 1998, Vansh Mahajan has participated in XIII Sub-Junior National and Cadet National Fencing Championship held at Kolkata in 2011 wherein he had won silver medal for the State in Sabre event.
He also took part in XIV Sub-Junior National Fencing Championship at Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh-2012 and also 57th National School Games 2011-12 organised by the School Games Federation of India held at Chandigarh.
Vansh took his second medal (Bronze) in 58th National School Games 2012-2013 held under the aegis of School Games Federation of India at Jalgaon in Maharashtra.
He had also participated in First Special Coaching Camp in Fencing discipline organised by J and K State Sports Council at M.A Stadium here from 17th to 27th September, 2011.
Following the footsteps of J and K State International players Rashid Ahmed and Ujwal Gupta, Vansh is undergoing regular practice under their guidance. His coach Shotu Lal is also helping him in the practice so that he can achieve his goal.
Vansh, who is considering Rashid Ahmed and Ujwal Gupta as his icon, took goal medal in the 11th Jammu District Fencing Championship 2012. He has also participated in Inter-District Competitions 2011-2012 in Fencing Discipline organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports at University of Jammu.
Continuing his excellent performance, Vansh got gold medal in the District Championship 2012-13.
Vansh is also eyeing for State award and Sher-e-Kashmir Sports award likewise his icons Rashid Choudhary and Ujawal Gupta.
