Dear Editor,
Congress chief Rahul Gandhi remains in news more for wrong reasons than for good reasons. He exhibited his impatience to wait till the Vandemataram is fully sung. His impatience drove him to ask the organizers of the rally to cut short the Vandemataram song to one line. In 1937, Nehru has gone one record to drop last 3 stanzas of the Vande Mataram just to appease Jinnah who said the song irks the peacefuls. Vandemataram is a Sanskrit poem written in the novel Anandmath by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee. Vandemataram means “I praise thee, Mother” or “I praise to thee, Mother”. If Jinnah says that it irks the peaceful, Nehru loses no time to cut the last three stanzas. The poem describes the prosperity of the Indian subcontinent and the richness in her heritage and culture. If Indian subcontinent is described in the poetic form, it irks not only the people of Jinnah’s ilk but also the people like Rahul Gandhi who is one of the descendants of Nehru. The great grandson of Nehru, Rahul Gandhi has been continuing his legacy. Congress members meekly follow what Rahul Gandhi wants. TV channels conduct debate on Vandemataram when Rahul Gandhi shows utter disregard to the national song. It is rather disquieting that there are people to argue against Vandemataram when it describes the Mother India.
