JAMMU: The 36th JK UT Senior Men & Women Volleyball Championship is all set to take place, organized by the Volleyball Association of J&K in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council. The event will be inaugurated by the Minister of Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, on 13th December 2024 at 2:30 PM at MA Stadium, Jammu. The championship will run for three days, showcasing the best talent in volleyball. A total of 30 teams will be competing-20 teams in the Men’s section and 10 teams in the Women’s section-with over 500 players and officials participating. The event promises to be exciting, as international volleyball players are expected to demonstrate their skills, inspiring the younger generation to take up the sport and promote volleyball in particular.
Several key organizations have extended their full support to ensure the smooth conduct of the championship, including the J&K Excise Department, J&K Bank, LIC, Chenab Valley Projects Ltd., Yes Bank, State Times, and J&K Public School Management. The event is also significant as it coincides with the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Volleyball Association of J&K, which was founded in 1974.
As part of the celebrations, veteran volleyball players who have contributed immensely to the sport’s growth at both the state and national levels will be felicitated. In a message, the President of VAJK, Sidharth Daluja, extended his best wishes to all the participants, hoping that they will have a comfortable stay in Jammu during the championship and that the event will promote national unity and communal harmony.
This championship promises to be a momentous occasion for volleyball in J&K, showcasing the region’s talent while honoring its rich history in the sport.
