UP Wrestler Asman wins Dera Kesari Dangal

KATRA: Asman of Mathura in Uttar Pradesh lifted the 31st Annual Dera Kesari Dangal title defeating Bablu of J&K Police and a resident of Basantgarh (Udhampur) in the main bout that took place at holy Shrine Dera Baba Banda Bahadur, here.
Dangal was organized by Dera Baba Bandha Bahadur Prabandhak Committee, Baba Banda Bahadur Sikh Samardi in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.
Dangal was organized in the memory of the great Saint, warrior and Martyr Baba Banda Bahadur on the eve of Baisakhi Festival under the overall supervision of president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma and Baba Jatinder Paul Singh Sodhi, Gaddinasheen.
Arvinder Singh Reen, Director AP and FWD, Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion, who distributed cash prizes among the winners and runners-up wrestlers. Former joint secretary J&K State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma was guest of honour.
In all, 36 bouts played in the day-long Kaanta Khushti Dangal. The bouts officiated by the technical penal including Raj Singh, Tulinder Kumar, Deepak Wazir and Sunny Sharma (Airtel).
Earlier, title winner, Asman awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 6,000 while runners-up Bablu got a cash prize of Rs. 5,000. In the second main bout, Ankit of Delhi beat Ajay Sharma of Udhampur and the third bout went to Salman of Choprashop, Udhampur who defeated Obey of Akhnoor.
The Vote of thanks was presented by Shiv Kumar Sharma. Dera Baba Banda Bahadur Prabandhak Committee members, who helped in smooth conduct of the event included Jatinder Paul Singh Sodhi, Gaddinasheen, Sant Kumar Juneja (vice chairman), Prem Dureja (president) Dr. Shiv Shanker Pahwa (coordinator), Ved Parkash Makker (general secretary) and Darshan Rewari (vice president).
