JAMMU: The morning assembly at JKPS Kunjwani resonated with empathy, awareness, and global responsibility as the students of Grade 5 Falcon presented a thoughtful and inspiring programme on UNICEF Day.

Opening the assembly with the profound words, “Every child comes with the message that God is not yet discouraged of man,” young Guneet Kour set a reflective tone, reminding the audience of humanity’s sacred duty toward every child. She further shared that UNICEF Day, observed on December 11, commemorates the establishment of the United Nations Children’s Fund, an organisation dedicated to providing emergency healthcare, safe drinking water, nutritious food, and essential medicine to vulnerable children across the world.
Adding further depth, Shivay explained that UNICEF was born out of the devastation of World War II, offering hope and healing to children who had lost everything. He highlighted the day’s central message: Every child, every right, every future. He further emphasized that UNICEF continues to serve as a global lifeline, ensuring that children everywhere survive, thrive, and realise their fullest potential.
Daksh Rajra elaborated that UNICEF Day is a powerful reminder that a child’s right to health, education, safety, and opportunity is non-negotiable. He drew attention to UNICEF’s relentless work in vaccination campaigns, anti-malnutrition programmes, educational access, and child protection initiatives worldwide. People across the globe show their solidarity by wearing blue, participating in awareness activities, and supporting UNICEF’s mission through advocacy and action.
The assembly became even more evocative when Bismeet Singh presented a poignant poem capturing the essence of UNICEF’s humanitarian spirit:
Where a child’s tear falls, UNICEF becomes a guiding hand,
Turning silent suffering into hope that can stand.
It stitches torn childhoods with threads of care and light,
And guards every little dream that trembles in the night.
In war, in hunger, in storms that steal away peace,
UNICEF brings courage, so tiny fears may cease.
A world is truly human when every child is safe each day-
That promise is UNICEF’s mission, its unwavering way.
The students enriched the assembly further by sharing powerful quotations that echoed UNICEF’s global resolve:
Anmolpreet Singh reflected, “If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one,” a timeless reminder from Mother Teresa.
Mohammad Owais added, “The welfare of today’s children is inseparably linked with the peace of tomorrow’s world,” as stated by Henry Labouisse.
Shambhavi Sharma reminded everyone, “The world has only one border – it is called humanity,” the stirring message of Nadia Murad Basee.
Sauravi Gulati shared Audrey Hepburn’s heartfelt words, noting, “I can testify to what UNICEF means to children because I was among those who received food and medical relief right after World War II.”
Seerat Kaur highlighted Ralph Fiennes’ belief, “UNICEF wants to encourage a sense of stability for a child.”
Divansh Sharma emphasized Catherine Russell’s poignant statement, “Children do not start wars, and they cannot end them, but they always pay the highest price.”
Ubaid Ul Haq Kohli quoted Amanda Gorman’s stirring reminder, “Together, we won’t just be the generation that tries, but the generation that triumphs.”
Arv Gupta underlined Liam Neeson’s message, “The cause of making the world a better place for children unites us all.”
Gurkirat Singh concluded with Charlotte Sullivan’s heartfelt sentiment, “UNICEF is such a special organization, and to spread the word just makes me so happy.”
Applauding the presenters for sentitizing the audience on a crucial topic, Principal JKPS Kunjwani Rajesh Rathore said, “UNICEF Day is much more than an observance; it is a gentle awakening of our collective conscience. Children are the purest expression of hope, and their well-being is the truest measure of our humanity. When we safeguard a child’s right to health, education, safety, and dignity, we safeguard the future of the world. Let us commit ourselves to ensuring that no child’s laughter is dimmed by hunger, fear, or neglect. May each one of us become a beacon of compassion, standing firmly with every child who looks to the world with trust and hope.”
