JAMMU: 20 years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbours. Catch the trade winds in your sail. Explore! Dream! Discover!” With this impactful statement from the American novelist Mark Twain, Adeeba Malik from Grade 4th Kaveri drew the attention of the audience during the Morning assembly at JK Public School Kunjwani.
“Believe in yourself and know that you are strong enough to get through just about anything. Once you believe in yourself, you can pretty much do whatever you want. You can have whatever you want if you believe in yourself and keep your feet firmly planted in the ground”, added Mishti from the class.
Adding more substance to the theme, another classmate Heer pitched in while stating, “There is a popular verse in the Bhagvad Gita which states that you have a right to perform your prescribed duties, but you are not entitled to the fruit of your actions. Never consider yourself to be cause of the results of your activities nor be attached. We have to keep ourselves motivated whenever we struggle without task. By getting de-motivated, we begin to lose our faith and doubt our abilities”.
“The best way I try to re-energize myself is by listening to motivational videos. Reading real-life experiences about people from all walks of life boosts my confidence. I look into the mirror and see a better of myself. Our self-belief can help us climb mountains. So get up and get moving”, she concluded.
Another promising student from the class Siara quoated Sir Edmund Hilary on the topic and stated,”It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves”.
Shahvi quoted Theodore Roosevelt, “Keep your eyes on the stars and your feet on the ground”.
Mandeep thundered with a quotation from Mohammad Ali, “To be a great champion you must believe you are the best. If you’re not, pretend you are”.
Nayra brought a broad smile to everyone’s face, while she quoted, “Never believe in lines of your hand that predict about your Future because some people don’t have hands also have future”.
Principal JKPS Kunjwani Rajesh Rathore applauded students for a thought provoking and inspiring theme for the Assembly and shared his perspective by saying, “Can we ever forget the Mountain Man? Using only a hammer and chisel, Dashrath Manjhi, a landless farmer, carved a path through a mountain in the Gehlour Hills Bihar, so that his village could have an easier access to medical facilities, which his wife couldn’t get and died. People laughed and made fun of Manjhi but he just continued with his untiring endeavours for 22 years. Hats off to human perseverance”!
He also quoted the example of Sqn Ldr Toolika Rani (Retd), who accomplished the most arduous feat of scaling Mt Everest, that too, Solo summit. “To achieve this extremely challenging task she underwent a rigorous physical training schedule of 20 km jogging and 5 hour gymming everyday, stretched over 5 long years. Thus she succeeded in conquering the might Mt Everest all alone. Unflinching self-belief can move mountains!”, he concluded.
