Umar plots collapse, Yudhvir bags player of match as J&K inflicts innings defeat on Services

SRINAGAR: After a terrific bowling show by Yudhvir Singh and Auqib Nabi in the first innings, six feet three inch lanky right-arm medium pacer, Umar Nazir once again proved he is always a class act when on song, bamboozling the rival batsmen and wobbling the ball both ways to plot collapse of the Services team and guide Jammu and Kashmir inflict an innings defeat on Services in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group-A match at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium here on Sunday.

While fast bowling pair of Yudhvir Singh and Auqib Nabi took 5 wickets each in the first innings, Umar Nazir captured 6 wickets and Yudhvir Singh bagged 3 wickets in the second essay and Auqib Nabi claimed one wicket.
Sticking to his basics, Umar hit the right areas to make the ball talk and make batters face music.
With all the hard work by the fast bowling trio of Auqib, Yudhvir and Umar, J&K managed to crush the visitors.
Earlier, resuming from an overnight score of 183/7, J&K scored a total of 228 runs in their first innings to gain a lead of 157 runs.
Shubham Khajuria top scored with 55 runs, while Shubham Singh Pundir (29), skipper Paras Dogra (28), Ahmad Banday (24) and Yudhvir Singh (22) were the other contributors.
Varun Choudhary was the pick of the bowlers for Services, who took 5 wickets by conceding 35 runs in his 17.2 overs, while Jayant Goyat and PS Poonia bagged 2 wickets each and AP Sharma claimed one wicket.
Trailing by 157 runs in the first innings, Services bundled out for a paltry total of 132 runs in the second essay to lose the match by an innings and 25 runs as the fast bowling trio led by Umar Nazir wreaked havoc and dismantled the rival batters.
SG Rohilla top scored with 47 runs while Jayant Goyat and Arun Kumar contributed 27 and 20 runs to the total respectively.
Umar Nazir was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 6 wickets by conceding 53 runs in his 12 overs, while Yudhvir Singh bagged 3 wickets by giving away 35 runs in his 11 overs. Aquib Nabi also claimed one wicket.
The Sub Committee Members of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) including Brig Anil Gupta Member-Administration, Mr Mithun Manhas, Member Cricket Operations and Adv Sunil Sethi Member Legal Affairs JKCA congratulated the team for this resounding victory.
