UJALA scheme launched in Leh

LEH: The Pradhan Mantri Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDS for All (UJALA) Scheme was launched in Leh today by the Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Leh Dr Soanm Dawa Lonpo at the community Hall Diskit-tsal Leh by distributing LED bulbs among families of Diskit-tsal.
Executive Councillors for Works/PDD Dorjey Motup and Tourism Tsering Sandup, National Programme Manager (UJALA) Neelima Jain, Chief Engineer PDD Leh Saurabh Sharma, Councillors, District Officers, Nambardars, and members of various villages of Leh and around were also present on the inaugural function.
CEC Dr Dawa Lonpo said that it is the responsibility of the Council for proper and transparent distribution of the LED bulbs to the nook and corner of Leh region as per the roaster prepared the EC PDD Dorjey Motup and the work of distribution will commence from the region of Changthang and will proceed to all other regions simultaneously without leaving any connection holder.
Terming this as a comprehensive scheme, Dr Dawa elaborated about its aim to save energy on large scale to the government and provide high quality bulb for minimal price assuring low electricity bill to the consumers. To ensure full-proof transparency, on-line registration on each purchase will keep a check on duplicacy, added CEC. In order to maintain this transparency, Dr Dawa advised the concerned Councillors and people representatives to ensure quality of the bulb by keeping a strict vigil. In the end, EC PDD Dorjey Motup presented the vote of thanks.
