UDHAMPUR: District Udhampur outplayed District Ganderbal by 10-02 in the inaugural match of two-day State Level under-19 Inter District Handball Tournament for Boys, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at Mini Stadium, here on Thursday.
The tournament is being organised under the patronage of Director General, Youth Services and Sports J and K. Naveen Agarwal and overall supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Udhampur, Sukhdev Singh. About 70 boys drawn from six districts are participating in the tournament.
In second match of the day was won by District Baramulla defeating District Jammu with 20-02 while in another match District Kupwara trounced District Ganderbal with 11-02.
All the matches were officiated by Ravi Singh, Ajay Sharma, Karun Magotra, Rishi Sharma, Vipin Photra, Vikrant Balgotra, Pooja Devi and Manik Nargotra.
Earlier, the tournament as inaugurated by Chief Guest, Vikas Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner Udhampur. Sukh Dev Singh presided over the opening ceremony while Principal Boys Higher Secondary School Udhampur, Sunil Sharma was the Guest of Honour. The Chief Guest stressed upon the participants to take more part in sports activities. Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO) Jib, Ram Lal, ZPEO Chenani Usha Bhatt, Pawan Sharma, Poonam Sharma, Som Dev, Subash Charma, Rakesh Sawhney, S Jaswinder Singh, Sanjeev Kumar, Snita Sharma, Nazir Ahmad, Rakesh Modi and Kuldeep Sharma were also present in the inaugural ceremony.
