Udhampur Admn to act tough against traffic offenders

UDHAMPUR: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Neeraj Kumar on Saturday called a joint meeting of representatives of different sections of society and district officers to discuss foolproof measures to put a check on increasing road mishaps in Udhampur city and outskirts. During meeting number of speakers highlighted problems leading to fatal road accidents especially two wheeler riders. Speakers in the meeting highlighted the reasons behind increasing road accidents in urban area of Udhampur.
DC Neeraj Kumar in his address said that the failure on the part of parents of children who allow their wards to drive without valid driving license cannot be denied which result in fatal accidents. He said there should be a joint effort from civil society and administration to curb the menace of over speeding and overloading to avoid any untoward fatal road accident.
SP Shalendra Mishra while speaking in the meeting said that police has taken a decision to strictly implement traffic rules in true spirit, keeping in view safety and security of people.
He said in Udhampur vicinity it was observed two wheeler riders don’t have habit of using crash helmet adding that police will function round the clock and will carry special drives until 100 per cent result is yielded.
Mishra informed that in case of any relevant complaint, people can inform any police officer including SHOs and In-Charge Police Post besides people can also use police’s FB, Tweeter pages and other social media. Mishra further emphasised that teachers, ZEOs, principals of different schools should inculcate a habit of road sense to students and also to obey traffic rules.
While matador operators were asked not to overload vehicles in any circumstances and if anybody is found doing so he will be dealt under law.
