VIJAYPUR: Two shops at Vijaypur Chowk caught fire and were gutted before the fire tenders reached the spot.
According to report, the General Store shop of Jagdish Singh, son of Mast Ram, resident of Vijaypur and Fancy Punjabi shop of Sukhwinder Singh, son of Gurmeet Singh were gutted on Sunday.
One of the shops suddenly caught fire which spread to the adjoining one. The people immediately reported the matter to Vijaypur police, which further informed the Fire Brigade. Since no fire tender was available at Vijaypur the same was brought from Bari Brahmna which reached after more than one hour and by then both the shops were gutted causing loss of lakhs of rupees to the owners of these shops. The fire tenders however controlled the fire from spreading to other areas.
The police have registered the case for investigation.
