Two shopkeepers among three nabbed with 120 pouches of liquor

BHADARWAH/AKHNOOR: Police on Sunday arrested three persons among two shopkeepers for selling illicit liquor and recovered 120 pouches if liquor from their possession from Bhadarwah and Akhnoor.
According to reports, on a specific information a police team led by SI Ajay Kumar Engotra laid a Naka at Pul Doda and apprehended the bootlegger, while he was on way to his native village. During checking, police recovered 38 pouches of country made liquor from his possession.
The accused was identified as Sunder Singh son of Chunni Lal resident of Bhena, Gaddhi area of district Doda and a case vide FIR No 124/2017 under section 48-A Excise Act was registered against him at Police Station Doda.
In another incident at Akhnoor, police received an information that some shopkeepers in Naiwala area are indulged in selling of illicit liquor Frooties (Desi whisky) in their shops. On this information, a party of Police Station Akhnoor conducted raids at the shops and during raid 20 pouches of frooties (Desi whisky) were seized fromm the possession of Gurvider Singh son of Sardar Singh resident of Devipur, 24 pouches of Frooties (Desi whisky) from the possession of Rashpal Singh son of Kaka Singh resident of Devipur. One person namely Amarnath son of Dewan Chand resident of of Dalpat Bhor fled away from the spot leaving behind 38 pouches in his shop. In the way 82 pouches of Frooties (Desi whisky) were seized fromm the possession of these shopkeepers which they have kept in their possession for the illegal sale among the peoples of the area. A case vide Fir No 117 /2017 under section 50 Excise Act was registered against them at Police station Akhnoor.
