Two packets of ‘heroin’ seized form Punjab border

Chandigarh:- The BSF has seized two packets of a powdery substance, suspected to be heroin, from the fields in the area under the Border Out Post T-Bundh in Ferozepur sector of Punjab.

“Based on specific information on December 15, a joint search operation was carried out by BSF and Counter Intelligence Staff Jalandhar in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post T Bundh, Ex- 191Bn BSF, Sector Ferozepur in between fence and dhussibundh.

“During search in the fields, two packets (weighing around 1 kg) of contraband suspected to be heroin wrapped in plastic cover were recovered,” a BSF official said.

One person identified as Chamkaur Singh, resident of Mehndipur has also been apprehended by the search party, he said.

The enhanced vigil of BSF troops has once again thwarted the attempt of smugglers or anti-national elements to smuggle contraband items into India, the official said.
