Two-day J&K UT Volleyball Tournament begins

KATHUA: The two-day open J&K UT Volleyball Tournament was declared open by DSP Border Dheeraj Singh at Bhaiya, the border village of Kathua Distt, here on Saturday.
The tournament, second of its kind, was organized by Bhaiya Volleyball club under the aegis of Kathua District Volleyball Association affiliated with Volleyball Association of J&K in which 20 teams from all across J&K UT including J&K police team are in fray to clinch the championship.
Many international & national volleyball players, who are sons of soil, are displaying their latest skills of game and inspiring rural youth towards sports/constructive activities in this tournament.
The Chief Guest lauded efforts of organizers in engaging youth in purposeful activities as well to shun the menace of drug addiction.
Sudesh Kumar Mandal Paradhan BJP Hiranagar, Kamlesh Sharma President, Mohinder Sharma Secretary Kathua District Volleyball Association and other office bearers also graced the function besides extending full support to the local club.
Special attractions of the tournament will be honouring of the outstanding players with cash prizes on closing ceremony, as per organizer Deepak Sharma.
The office bearers of Volleyball Association of J&K have wished all the best to the organizers for expanding volleyball game in nook and corner of J&K UT.
