Two brothers washed away in River Tawi

JAMMU: Two teenage brothers were reportedly washed away in River Tawi here while another youth was rescued.
Two teenaged youth, Surya Pratap (19) and Adarsh (15), both brothers and reportedly children of a BSF soldier, were washed away at the Har ki Paudi Temple Ghat when they were trying to click pictures standing in the water stream. The duo belonged to Bihar while their friend who was rescued, hailed from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.
“The boys had visited the spot to celebrate Surya Pratap’s birthday. They parked their two wheeler outside the temple but did not deposited their mobile phones”, security personnel at the gate told police adding that boys later went to the Tawi stream at the Ghat and started taking pictures. Due to rain in the catchment areas of Tawi, a sudden gush of water swept away the boys following which a search operation was launched.
As per the third youth, Rajan, the trio had walked in far from the bank. “As the level of water started rising,  they got panicked and tried to move to a safer place. Consequently, they could not resist the gush and got washed away”, Rajan added.
“One of the drowned boys was found near an island in the river, but another is still missing,” police added.
