RAMBAN: In a crackdown over the people involved in smuggling of JK Desi whisky in Ukhral Senabati area, Police on Tuesday arrested two bootleggers along with major haul of illicit liquor pouches.
Acting on specific input, a police team of Police Post Ukhral laid a Naka at Ukhral -Makarkot Link Road and intercepted four pedestrian on suspicious grounds. On seeing police, two of them escaped from the spot by taking advantage of night whereas other two were apprehended on the spot. During checking, police party recovered 429 pouches of JK Desi whisky and arrested the accused, who have been identified as Amar Singh son of Sher Singh and Insaf Singh son of Tara Chand both resident of Senabati. The accused were carrying the illicit liquor on foot and were about to store consignment in their den but Ramban Police foiled their attempt by arresting them and seizing the illicit liquor pouches, which was supposed to be sold to general public to a earn illegitimate profit. Search of other two accused has started who have been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmed and Pervaiz Ahmed. In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 56/2016 under section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Ramsoo. Arrests have been made by police party led by SI Anil Choudhary, In-Charge Police Post Ukhral in close coordination with Inspr. Mohd Ameen, SHO Police Station Ramsoo under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Mohd Rafiq.
