NEW DELHI: Press Club Leh (PCL) General Secretary and STATE TIMES Bureau Chief Leh, Tsewang Rigzin on Friday met President Press Club of India, Gautam Lahiri and President of the Indian Journalists Union, S.N Sinha at the Press Club of India, New Delhi and discussed issues being faced by journalists in Ladakh.
Sinha, who was also the Convenor of the Press Council of India Committee that visited Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh few months back, informed Rigzin that issues relating to journalism in Ladakh, raised by Leh based journalists have been highlighted in the PCI report submitted to the State Government and need for accrediting journalists from Ladakh was also brought up in the report.
Sinha said that the Press Council of India had informed authorities about erratic internet connection of Ladakh and also low powered transmitting system of AIR and Doordarshan which had become a serious issue in the border area like Ladakh.
Discussions were also held to affiliate Ladakhi journalists with the Indian Journalists Union so that issues being faced by scribes in Ladakh get highlighted and addressed at appropriate platforms besides helping them to get opportunities to interact with journalists across the country and share
experiences and get more exposure in the field of journalism.
