Truth is first casualty in conflict zone: Pradeep Dutta

JAMMU: Mount Litera Zee School (MLZS) Kathua, on Thursday observed World Press Freedom Day.
On the occasion, the school administration organised an interactive session between students and journalits.
The Keynote speaker of the event was Pradeep Dutta – Senior Editor Times Now TV Channel. While interacting with students he highlighted challenges faced by journalists covering zone.
“Truth is the first casualty in conflict zone and uncertainty is the only certainity there,” explained Pradeep Dutta, the only scribe from Jammu and Kashmir to cover war from Ukraine – the most dangerous frontiers of the world.
He also recited poetry to motivate youngsters in channelising their energy in right. He asked youngsters to invest in peace and don’t fall prey to negative forces around. “Conflict is like onion, more you peal it more you get tears and eyes,” Dutta explained.
The President of Press Club Kathua, Sanjay Pathak, Chairman Press Club Kathua, Manuj Kesar, General Secretary Harpreet Singh Sethi, Mohan Sharma Rajkumar and Parbh Dyal were the other members from journalistic fraternity, who graced the occasion. Chairman, Mount Litera Zee School, Pankaj Dogra, Chairperson Rajiv Gandhi Group of Colleges Anu Dogra, Principal IPS, Shruti Ujwal and Principal MLZS Kathua, Charu Andotra were also part of the event.
The session began with the talented students sharing their views on Freedom of Press. The keynote speaker then shared his experiences during 20 years of journalism covering counter-insurgency and counter-terror operations.
He expressed that, for him, the country comes first no matter what.
This was followed by an open house interactive session.
The event culminated by presenting the mementos to the Press club members and a token of appreciation to Pradeep Dutta by the chairman and school Principal.
