BATOTE: Police on Saturday arrested a trucker and recovered 10 kg poppy straw from his possession.
According to a report, a police party from Police Station Batote laid a Naka at National Highway near Baggu Nallah and during checking of vehicles, a truck No. JK02AP-5733 was signalled to stop for checking. Sensing trouble, driver of vehicle tried to escape from the Naka, but active cops chased the vehicle and intercepted at some distance.
During the checking of truck, 10 Kgs poppy straw was recovered from the possession of trucker being carried from Kashmir Valley. Accordingly, driver was arrested on the spot has have been identified as Ashiq Ali son of Ab Rashid resident of Parsana Tehsil Reasi. A case vide FIR No. 25/2016 under section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Batote. The arrest has been made by Inspr. Sameer Jeelani, SHO Police Station Batote.
