JAMMU: Alleging injustice done by the party in the name of ticket distribution, BJP leader from Billawar Constituency, Narayan Dutt Tripathi on Friday continued his hunger strike on the second consecutive day.
Scores of women from Billawar gathered in front of party headquarters and raised slogans in support of Narayan Dutt demanding ticket for the genuine candidate.
Addressing media persons, BJP leaders said that the purpose of Dutt’s hunger strike is to get justice not for himself but for his supporters who worked day and night with him for spreading the policies and programmes of the party at grass root level.
Terming the whole incident as unfortunate, Dutt alleged that favourtism adopted in declaration of ticket in Billawar Constituency has caused the current chaos. He said Party High Command neither saw ground reality nor popularity of the candidate during the distribution of tickets.
The BJP leader appealed to all his supporters to maintain peace in the area and not to hold any protest. He further said that his personal consciousness asked him to sit on Anshan until justice is not delivered. He appealed to the Party High Command to reconsider its decision so that genuine and deserving do not suffer.
