Tributes paid to Pt Nehru on his 125th Birth Anniversary

JAMMU: Rich tributes were paid to first Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru in a function held at PCC Headquarters here to celebrate his 125th Birth Anniversary on Friday.
The function was presided over by Thakur Hari Singh Vice President and was attended by senior functionaries of PCC, DCC, BCC, Mahila Congress Ward Presidents, INTUC, Seva Dal, Youth and NSUI.
Prominent leaders who paid tributes include Dharam Pal Sharma, Indu Pawar MLA and President Pradesh Mahila Congress, Chuni Lal Bhat, Maheshwar Singh, Rashid Choudhary, General Secretaries S.R Sudhir, Kanta Bhan, President DCC Jammu (Urban) Anil Chopra, Lalita Sharma, Pawan Raina, Narinder Gupta, Neeraj Gupta, Sanjeev Sharma and Jammu-West INC candidate S.S Shingari.
While paying tributes, Thakur Hari Singh described Pt. Nehru as a great visionary and architect who laid the foundation of Modern India. He said devotion to democracy was one of Nehru’s political principles and the building of a democratic, social and political system was one of his principle objectives.
The leaders also took pledge to work tirelessly for redeeming his promises and vision of a pluralistic society, democracy and social justice where all people have equal rights and opportunities and access to the nation’s resources for shared prosperity. We resolve to uphold the unity of India and its people and protect it from the onslaught of divisive ideologies and politics that promote hatred and violence.”
