Transporters call on RKSP State President

STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: A delegation of the transporters from Narwal and Sunjwan areas called on Rashtriya Krantikari Samajwadi Party (RKSP) State President Ghulam Qadir Ding and highlighted various problems being faced by them.
According to a press release issued on Friday by state RKSP, the delegation raised the problems related with overloading done by some influential transporters who ‘grease the palms’ of traffic authorities to facilitate their nefarious motives. The delegation members expressed that overloading is the major cause of accidents that take place in the city.
The delegate members also expressed anger over traffic authorities for erecting unnecessary Nakas to trouble the genuine transporters and harass them in the name of checking. The members lamented that when one Naka is sufficient at a place, why 5-6 Nakas are laid to harass the transporters and make them pay bribes to officials at these Nakas. They cited an example of Ramban where five Nakas have been erected and officials ask transporters to ‘pay entries’ at each one of them. The delegation demanded a strict check on such corrupt practices and cancellation of permit of those vehicles who are found overloaded. Among others present at the rally included Arfaz Ahmed Ding State Youth RKSP president, Amit Gupta Senior Vice-President State Youth RKSP, and Nazeer Ahmed Sheikh District President State Youth RKSP.
