Trailer hits car, rams into shops; 4 killed 12 injured include three army men

JAMMU: Four persons including three women were killed and over a dozen others injured when an overloaded truck trailer lost control and rammed into a car, and crashing into a shop in Samba Chowk, on Saturday night.
Eyewitnesses said the truck rammed into several shops present in the market killing the four people who were there. The injured are being provided medical assistance.
Since the truck trailer turned turtle the National Highway remained blocked with large queue of vehicles stranded on both sides.
It is feared that some people are trapped under the overturned truck trailer and rescue operations are on with police and locals evacuating the casualties and injured to nearby hospitals.
The dead include three females and one male. Of the 12 injured include three army men who have been referred to Military Hospital and others to GMC Jammu.
State Times correspondent reports that Deputy Commissioner and other senior civil and police officers had not reached the accident site till the filing of the report.
The rescue operations didn’t yield desired result due to lack of expert manpower and machinery. A small crane was seen trying to remove the hug trailer unsuccessfully.
While the identities of dead have not been ascertained so far, those injured include Tilak Raj (42), son of Sadhu Ram, Raman (32), son of Bodh Raj both resident of Kheli Mandi, Samba, Billa (40), son of Ratan, resident of Balori, Hem Raj (30) son of Prem Nath, resident of Ramnagar, Ashwani (40), son of Dharam, resident of Ward No. 1 Samba, Raman (32), resident of Ward No. 8 Samba and Simran (18 months), daughter of Raman, resident of Samba.
