TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR
TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 02-02-2026:-
From 31-01-2026, 1600 hrs. to 01-02-2026, 1600 hrs., there was slow movement observed on NH-44 due to single lane traffic between Marog and Kishtwari Pather, in addition to the breakdown of 02 HMVs.
In view of inclement weather conditions predicted by the MeT Deptt ., with a likely spell of snowfall/rainfall during the next 24 hours , the general public is advised to undertake journey only after confirming the status of road from TCU Srinagar/Ramban/Jammu and check status of roads at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and face book page
In view of 20–30 Mtrs single-lane stretch at Kishtwari Pather caused by the sinking of road , Heavy Motor Vehicles ( HMVs ) shall be allowed to ply on alternate days .
Passengers/LMV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime . Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides , as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal. Additionally, frost formation on the road between Nachlana and the NAVYUG Tunnel, caused by recent snow accumulation, may lead to slippery conditions and inconvenience to commuters.
Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline ; overtaking, wrong lane driving will cause congestion.
Goods carrier (HMV/LMV) Operators carrying fresh perishable/live stock are advised to load their vehicle strictly as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters from time to time as there is single lane traffic at Kishtwari Pather.
NH-44 (NHW)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs Passenger/HPVs/Private Cars shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa . However, HMVs shall be allowed from Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar after assessing the road and traffic situation and no HMV shall be allowed after 1400 hrs. TCU Udhampur shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing this traffic.
SFs Convoy Movement:-
Security Forces are advised/requested not to ply against advisory /traffic plan in view of possible traffic congestion because of narrow carriage way between Ramban and Banihal on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. Tomorrow they may ply from Jammu towards Srinagar after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.
Kishtwar-Sinthan- Anantnag NH-244:-
Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road is still closed for vehicular movement due to snow accumulation.
SSG ROAD
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, (after receiving the green signal from BRO) only LMVs equipped with Anti-skid chains shall be allowed to ply from Srinagar towards Kargil on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road. These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil between 1000 hrs to 1200 hrs. After that, the vehicular movement shall be allowed from Minimarg towards Srinagar upto 1500 hrs . Motorists are advised to carry and use anti-skid chain to gain more grip on the slippery road. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut off timing. No vehicle shall be permitted after cut off timing.
Mughal Road:-
Mughal road is still closed for vehicular movement due to snow accumulation.
