Leh: District Police Leh in collaboration with Municipal Committee (NAC) Leh and Traffic Police kick started the “Traffic Awareness week” on Wednesday.
The main aim and objectives of the programme is to aware all the stake holders, drivers, commercial taxi operators, drivers of various types of vehicles and general public/commuters about the various types of traffic related issues, problems, abeyance of traffic rules and regulations and also statutory provisions. The programme has been designed to be more inclusive and holistic to accommodate different sections of society and get them acquainted with the endemic traffic problems in Leh and their redressal.
SSP Leh Dr. Sunil Gupta, flagged off the “Traffic Awareness Vehicle” from SSP office complex Leh in presence of police officers and various heads of Motor Transport Unions, media persons and students.
The traffic awareness vehicle adorned with traffic awareness related slogans, punitive section under MV Act was the main attraction of the event. During the inaugural session traffic related educational materials such as leaflets, pamphlets, placards containing the various sections of motor vehicle act, other traffic related provisions and rules, guidelines were distributed.
Later on, a traffic awareness road show was carried out throughout the Leh city and adjoining areas including Choglamser, Skalzangling.
Different types of traffic related awareness activities/ programme such as painting competition, sticker distribution, education by students etc. General public are requested to co-operate to operate to make the week long traffic awareness programme successful.
