On the eve of forthcoming New Year 2025 Celebrations, Traffic Police Rural Jammu urge the general public especially youths/ motorists resorting to roaming on their bikes/cars and blowing horns/whistles unnecessarily as well as consuming alcohol, to prioritize safety on roads. To ensure a safe and enjoyable New Year’s celebration, Traffic Police Rural Jammu requests your cooperation in adhering to traffic rules and regulations (Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, Poonch).
- General Guidelines:
1. Plan ahead: Plan your celebrations and travel in advance, considering the expected crowds and traffic congestion.
2. Designated Drivers: Ensure that you have a designated driver or a safe transportation plan in place.
3. Follow Traffic Rules: Adhere to all traffic rules and regulations, including speed limits, traffic signals, pedestrian crossings etc.
- Hilly Areas:
1. Caution on Steep Roads: Exercise extreme caution while driving on steep roads, especially in
Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, and Poonch, as the roads may be slippery and prone to landslides.
2. Use Low Gear: Use low gear while driving uphill to maintain control of your vehicle.
3. Avoid Over-Speeding: Avoid over-speeding, especially on winding roads, to prevent loss of control.
- Don’t drive under the influence of liquor:
1. Zero Tolerance: The Traffic Police, Rural, has a zero-tolerance policy towards driving under the
influence of liquor.
2. Severe Penalties: Violators will face severe penalties, including imprisonment, fine, and suspension
of driving license.
3. Save Lives: Don’t risk your life and the lives of others by driving under the influence of liquor.

1. Use Seat Belts/Crash helmets: Ensure that all occupants of the vehicle wear seat belts/Crash
helmets .
2. Be Patient: Be patient and courteous while driving, and avoid using high beam lights to
avoid dazzling other drivers.
3 Avoid rash driving/wrong parking :Do not indulge in stunts/rash driving and drive more
cautiously for maintaining better road discipline.
