SRINAGAR: Tourism industry stakeholders including the members of All Travel Trade Coordination Committee (ATTCC) on Saturday called on Chief Secretary, Mohammad Iqbal Khandey, here at the Winter Secretariat, Srinagar.
Tourism stakeholders highlighted several issues confronting the industry after it suffered immense losses during the September floods especially in Srinagar city which bore the brunt of the flood fury.
Seeking early restoration of the damaged tourism infrastructure and rehabilitation of tourism stakeholders, whose properties/business got affected due to the floods, the members demanded support of the government in order for the tourism industry to resume back it’s normal activities and business.
Assuring, tourism industry full support of the Government, Chief Secretary said that Government is keen to see State’s tourism industry prosper and is well aware about the issues confronting it. He said measures are underway for the restoration of damaged tourism infrastructure especially in Srinagar city. He said publicity and promotional campaigns have been launched to dispel misinformation and woo tourists for visit to the picturesque valley and enjoy their stay here.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Shah and representatives of various tour operator associations, hotelier clubs were present on the occasion.
