JAMMU: Acharaya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS) Jammu has performed total Maxillectomy marking a milestone to provide best healthcare and surgical care to the residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
A 64 years old male was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of right maxilla. The surgical team performed right total maxillectomy for removal of tumour in Toto.
The surgery was performed by the Department of ENT and Head and Neck surgery, ASCOMS Jammu by the surgical team led by Dr Padam Singh Jamwal (Professor and Head of Department), Dr Nitika Mehta (Associate Professor), Dr Chandpreet Kour (Assistant Professor), Dr Mohit Goel (Assistant Professor) and Dr Iaichika Sethi (Assistant Professor). The surgery was demonstrated to the residents Dr Priyanka Mahajan (Senior Resident) and Dr Anju Sharma (Senior Resident) along with post graduates of the Department of ENT and head and neck surgery – Dr Tanish Arora, Dr Hitesh Jasrotia, Dr Obair Baba ,Dr Pankhuri Gupta, Dr Ajit Pal Singh Sodi,Dr Munnawar Katoo, Dr Hamid Khan and Dr Sidrat. The procedure was expertly supported by the anaesthetic team headed by Dr Nandita Mehta(Professor and Head of Department, Anaesthesia ), Dr Anshu (Assistant Professor), Dr Bushra (Senior Resident) and their post graduates. Post operatively patient will be subjected to radiotherapy and post-operative care will also include tailored rehabilitation plan to support patients recovery and respiratory function. This achievement is testimony of hard work and preservance of our entire team. This milestone would not have been achieved without support of our principal Dr Pawan Malhotra.
