BHADARWAH: Torrential rains from early morning created havoc in the whole Chenab Valley.
Like other parts of the State, Chenab Valley also experienced heavy rainfall which has triggered landslides at several places, due to which the vehicular movement on Batote-Doda-Kishtwar National Highway (NH1B) was disrupted for some time.
The 110 Km long Batote-Doda-Kishtwar National Highway (NH1B), which got closed due to landslides at Jangalwar and Drabshalla areas, was reopened for traffic on Sunday afternoon and stranded vehicles were cleared by the traffic authorities.
The National Highway 1B (NH1B) got closed at 8:00 AM today morning after heavy landslide hit Drabshalla and Jangalwar areas of Distt Doda due to torrential rains since last night.
“Passenger vehicles and load carriers got stuck on both sides of the highway in Drabshalla and Jangalwar areas, after landslides hit at two places within 2 km stretch near Thathri at 8:00 AM today morning,” said DySP Traffic NH1B Aftab Bhukhari.
“Concerned authorities started restoration work immediately after receiving information about landslide,we restored the road for traffic. stranded passenger vehicles and some load carriers carrying essential commodities were cleared and a team with machines will remain at every slide prone areas to clear the road immediately if blocked,” DySP Traffic added.
Passengers appreciated the prompt action of Traffic Police and other concerned Deptt for restoring the road immediately.
