To secure future of youth, police-people have to continue work together: DGP

‘Pakistan continuously supplying drugs to ruin future of youth’

SRINAGAR: The Director General of Police J&K Shri Dilbag Singh has said that to secure the bright future of our youth, police and people have to work together.
Past which has given pain has to be left behind so as to provide a peaceful environment to our coming generations, he said while addressing the local citizens after laying the foundation stone of two multi-storeyed conventional structures, one each at Bhagwanpora & Sangam in Srinagar district.
The DGP said it has always been an endeavour of the Police Department to come closer to its people in order to secure their lives and property and added that today’s foundation stone laying ceremony is a part of that endeavour.
He directed the jurisdictional officers to take necessary steps to solve the grievances of the people on priority.
He said that the J&K Police is also expecting and getting full support and cooperation from people in maintaining peace and order.
The DGP said that the situation in J&K has improved a lot during the past 3 to 4 years, and the working of police and other forces has been appreciated and a mutual respect among the personnel of police/forces and the people is apparent.
He said J&K Police personnel come from the same society and work for the betterment of his own society.
He complimented Police & forces for showing patience and restraint during tough times while maintaining peace & order.
He said that the impressions about some areas are also changing now. We have to continue our work together for the peace and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir, he emphasized on the people of the area.
Speaking of the new challenge of narcotic terrorism, the DGP said that it’s high time to take action against the menace.
He said that the JKP’s Drug-de-addiction Center which is functional in the downtown area is providing all necessary facilities and services to the drug addicted youth.
He said that during his visit to the centre few days back, the effected persons under treatment in the center thanked JKP for its services in saving the young lives.
He said that those youth who were trapped unknowingly in the drug abuse and have acknowledged that the path of drug addiction as a path of destruction should work as role models to other youth and advise them about the ill effects of the addiction.
He appealed to the locals of the area to discuss and guide the youth through mosques & community meetings to stay away from the menace.
He said that Pakistan is continuously supplying drugs with an aim to damage the mind and health of our youth and ruin their future. He said that all of us have to play a role to save our youth from destruction.
Xen PCD Kamal Kishore explained the drawing plans of these buildings to the DGP. He informed that these five storey buildings are spread over the 3100 sq. ft. area each and will involve a cost of Rs. 529 lakh at each place. These buildings have many facilities for officers & jawans.
