SRINAGAR: There is completely peaceful atmosphere in boarder areas in Jammu and Kashmir as there is no ceasefire violation on the LoC for a long time now so it is the right time to promote Kaman Post as a tourist spot.
Kaman Post, also known as the Bridge of Peace, situated along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of Baramulla district, is finally open for tourists and common people, marking a significant moment of peace and tranquillity in the region. After years of remaining out of bounds for commoners, the place is now being promoted as a tourist destination, an initiative made possible due to ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan last year. “Visitors are now allowed to visit the post by submitting their Aadhaar card to the concerned authorities.
However, due to sensitivity of area, the visitors are allowed to visit post only during daytime,” an official said.
The post has been given a complete facelift, upgradation and renovation to make it more alluring and attractive for tourists.
The revamped Kaman Post is not only rich in history, but also offers an opportunity to walk on the ‘Veer Path’ as posters of martyrs have been erected on both sides along with slogans of unity and strength. “While Kaman Post has already started to witness a footfall of visitors, we are planning to organise school trips to the Post to infuse a sense of patriotism among young minds. When school children will see the Veer Path, it will instill a feeling of patriotism among them,” the official added.
The initiative to promote the Kaman Post as a tourist destination has raised expectations of locals that the move will further pave way for promotion of border tourism by exploring other adjacent areas of Uri sector. The locals have also demanded promotion of shrines named after Baba Qazi Nag and Baba Fareed, along with areas like Chotali, Limber and Bosnian.
