Timber worth lakhs seized

BHADARWAH: Continuing with its operation against the timber smugglers to curb the increasing menace of green felling of timber, sleuths of Forest Division Bhadarwah and Forest Protection Force (FPF) seized timber worth lakhs of rupees in Chiralla Range of Bhadarwah Forest Division on Friday. According to reports, taking notice of an information regarding timber smugglers in Forest Division Bhadarwah, a team of Central Forest Control Room(CFCR) Bhadarwah and Forest Control Room (FCR) Chiralla and sleuths of FPF J-8 Gamma Unit Doda under the supervision of DFO Bhadarwah Vivek Verma carried out an operation in Compartment Number 36 in Jaie Block of Chiralla range and seized 142.65 Cft of illicit timber dumped at different places in maize fields reportedly for smuggling.
DFO Bhadarwah, Vivek Verma said that the timber which was perhaps extracted from green cedar 2-3 years back was dumped by the culprits at different places. Adding “the illicit timber has been seized and a case has been registered in relevant sections to initiate necessary action under the rules.”
